Concept

Tarot cards are often associated with the occult and many people from all walks of life can find themselves interested in the practice at one point or another - witches being no exception. While not all witches use tarot cards, and not all tarot readers are witches, it is very common to find a tarot deck amongst a witch’s magical tools. I aim to create a tarot deck of my own, using a simple yet bold graphic style and a witch as the central character. I will be following tarot card staples, as well as using tropes associated with witchcraft, such as the historical treatment of women and witches, folklore and fairy tales and even carnivalesque inversion; making the powerless become powerful.
